WHY REPLACE OLD WINDOWS?
The Learning Center
In some instances, this may be both possible and practical. However, every situation is different. Generally, if your windows are more than
10 to 15 years old, you should seriously consider replacing your window with newer technology, especially if your windows are causing a
variety of problems. Trying to repair failed parts of older windows can be a lesson in frustration that is easily avoided with a custom made
replacement window.
If your windows are not that old, you may want to replace a failed part if it is available from the manufacturer. If you have a failed piece of
insulating glass that has moisture between the panes and the rest of the window is operating okay, you should be able to get the unit
replaced by the original manufacturer or a local glass shop. If your windows are in decent shape but are leaking air, consider applying new
weather stripping. Depending upon the type of weather stripping you need, it might be available at your local building supply stores.
