WINDOW MAINTENANCE
The Learning Center
It is impossible to get rid of all indoor mold and mold spores. Some mold spores will be found floating through the air and in house dust.
The mold spores will not grow if moisture is not present. Indoor mold growth can and should be prevented or controlled by controlling the
amount of moisture inside your home. If there is mold growth in your home, you must clean the mold and fix the moisture problem. If you
clean the mold, but fail to fix the moisture problem, then the mold is likely to return.
The addition of things that make your home more airtight, such as new windows and doors or additional insulation, can cause moisture,
which previously escaped, to become trapped in your home, increasing the relative humidity level. Condensation on the inside surface of
insulated glass in new windows and doors is one sign of excess moisture. Unless this moisture is removed by proper ventilation, it can
build up and become excessive.
