Grease, oil, or other industrial solids that have built up for some time, may require stronger solutions such as Mr. Clean, Soft Scrub, isopropyl alcohol (denatured or rubbing alcohol), or lacquer thinner. To remove any stubborn stain from the vinyl surface of your window, use Barkeeper’s Friend. This mild abrasive usually removes any marks, but it can leave a white film that can be removed with de-natured alcohol. When using solvents, be careful not to damage glazing or insulating unit seals by overgenerous application of the solvent. In addition, comply with the solvent manufacturer's directions for toxicity, handling, and flammability warnings. The use of sandpaper, razor blades, steel wool, or emery paper will leave fine scratches on the vinyl surface and could be damaging. To avoid damage to the vinyl, sample test an inconspicuous area with the cleaning solution and method of your choice. Do not wash the windows or doors with a high-pressure spray. The extreme pressure could crack or destroy the caulking around the window or door.   3.
