GLOSSARY OF WINDOW STYLES The Learning Center Sliding Windows Sliding windows move from side to side, allowing for easy operation. They are an ideal choice for difficult to reach areas. They come in a two-sash version with a single operable panel or where both operate for ventilation. They also come in a three panel version, where the two end panels, which each generally account for 25% of the width, open for ventilation. They typically come with a removable sash that can be lifted out for cleaning. However with insulated glass these sashes can be heavy and difficult to handle. There are newer designs in the market that have center-pivoted sashes which rotate for cleaning so the outside can be cleaned from the inside.   < previous main menu       next >
