It is a good idea for all of the adults who will be using the new windows and doors to be present when product selection, options, and
installation details are discussed. That is the only way for all parties to properly understand the estimate and the process.
A few of the higher quality companies will have a consultant come out and discuss your project and assess your needs. Both parties may
not have to be there for this initial evaluation. The consultant will then schedule a follow-up consultation at your convenience to discuss the
details of the project and to present a proposal for the work you discussed in the first meeting. Everyone who will use the windows and who
will be looking at how they are installed, needs to be present for this consultation. Studies have shown that homeowner dissatisfaction
significantly increases when all interested parties are not involved in the decision making process. It’s your money; if you don’t have the
time to be involved up front, you won’t have the time to chase after concerns and issues once the job is finished.
Older senior citizens, especially single widows, may want to have one of their children or a friend involved in this process. Sometimes, it is
beneficial to have a second set of ears and eyes to help counsel you in your decision making process.
4. Do both “decision makers” need to be present for window and door estimates?
