The installation is the part of your project you’ve been anticipating for months. When it’s finally time for your remodeling to begin, what is involved in the right installation? How do you prepare for your installation? What can you expect during your installation?
Preparing Your Home For Installation Your contractor should walk you through what you needto do to prepare for your installation. You may even get a summary of what your responsible for and what to expect on the day of your installation. More than likely, you’ll have to clear access to the entrances the contractor will use and remove or cover any knick-knacks, delicate items, electronics and other valuable, or breakable items from the areas while the work is being performed.
The Right Installation On the day of your installation, it’s a good idea to move any cars from the driveway to make room for the contractor’s trucks. You should keep all pets and young children away from the area being worked on. When you show the project manager the areas to be worked on, take this time to ask any questions or discuss any concerns you have. The installation crew should protect your home with drop cloths and mats to keep your home clean. After your installation is complete, your contractor should clean up to leave your home the way it was found. Your contractor should also review your new products, give you a demonstration if necessary, and review your warranty details as well as the service policy.
Zero Defects Your contractor should have a system in place to assure that your products and installation are free of defects and your expectations of the finished job have been met. He should have a checklist or form for you to sign off on when he reviews your completed job with you. A satisfaction survey may also be given so you can asses the crews work and professionalism.
