1.  Do I need new windows?
People replace windows for many reasons--some for functional reasons and some for aesthetic reasons.  However, new windows will always be a way to help your home save energy and help your home's curb appeal.  Below are just a few examples of windows that typically need replaced to help your home be more energy efficient:

2.  What type of replacement windows are there?
The good thing about a custom window replacement company is that the possibilities are endless when it comes to the window openings in your house.  At Energy Swing Windows, we custom make all of our own windows in our manufacturing facility in Murrysville--so we should be able to fill any request!  However, the most popular window styles are:

3.  What is Low-E glass?
Low-E glass uses an atom's thick silver coating on the inside of the glass and works like a heat reflecting mirror, bouncing heat back towards the direction it came from. In the summer time it reflects the heat back to the outside of your home, keeping your house cooler, while in the wintertime it reflects back towards the inside of your home, allowing it to stay warmer.  Low-E coatings also drastically reduce interior fading of carpet, wood, furniture, and drapes. All Energy Swing Windows have Low-E coatings.

4.  What is argon filled glass?
High performing insulated glass units replace the air space between the two panes of glass with a lower conductivity gas, such as argon, which reduces the transfer of heat because Argon is more dense than oxygen and slows the conductivity of heat and cold. If this seal is broken in your current windows, it would be worth your while to replace the window with argon filled glass units so that you save money on your energy bills.

5.  What is a window's R-Value?
R-Value is a rating given in construction to tell how well a material insulates.  The higher the number, the more insulation you are getting and the more money you are saving in energy costs.  However, be careful because a lot of window companies will say they have an R-Value of 25 on one component (say, just the frame of their window); therefore, be sure to get the R-Value of the window as a unit, which is realistically between 2 and 4.

6.  What is a window's U-Value?
U-Value is similar to R-Value but there are two major differences: first, the U-Value rates an entire window or door unit whereas the R-Value only measures specific materials.  Second, the lower the U-Value, the more energy efficient your home will be (as compared to the higher R-Value being more energy efficient).  This change in scale is because R-Value rates how much heat is retained whereas U-Value rates how much heat is lost.  Energy Swing windows meets Energy Star efficiency standards with a U-Value of .3.

7.  Does Energy Swing use their own employees for installation?
Yes!  Energy Swing is proud to say that we use all of our own highly skilled employee craftsmen for installing all of our materials (windows, doors, siding, etc.).  Having employees on your installation team is a way to make sure every man on the job is fully insured, and you, as a homeowner, are 100% protected if anything should happen.  See our Window Smarts page for information about company insurances.

8.  What can I expect during my installation?
Chances are, if you have a construction crew in your home doing renovations, you want to know what you are in for as they work.  Installation crews not only replace your windows, but they also check for rotten wood and bad insulation and replace them as need be (which is included in the installation, no charge is made to the homeowner).  Energy Swing takes careful consideration to send out installation reminders, a list of things to do before the installers arrive, discuss the project with the client, go over how the windows work after installation, and also go over the warranty information after installation as well.  Our installation crews are very receptive to any questions the homeowner may have and are trained to do a job with mastery work, leaving the homeowner 100% satisfied with their experience.

9.  Will the installation team clean up after the job?
Yes!  No one wants to clean up a mess they didn't make, so Energy Swing will remove and dispose of your old windows (or other materials) at no charge.  In addition to removing unwanted materials, the crew also lays down plastic carpet covering and drop clothes at every opening to respect each homeowner's home and their belongings.  After the job is complete, the windows and surrounding areas are cleaned--leaving your home in the same condition as when the installers first arrived.  See our Windows Smarts section for more details!

10.  Does Energy Swing offer any type of financing for replacement windows?
Yes!  Energy Swing offers financing, budgeting, and promotion options.  Call for a free consultation and one of our sales consultants would be happy to discuss with you options for affording your dream look for your home, while saving you money through energy efficient windows at the same time!  See our Promotions Page for more information.

11.  Why does Energy Swing only offer white and tan windows?
No matter who you buy brown windows from in the window industry, your brown windows WILL always fade over time.  Energy Swing wants your home to look good now as well as in five or ten years--so we encourage white or tan frames for all the windows we make.  Lots of homeowners have changed from brown windows to tan windows and were amazed at how beautiful they looked.  Ask us to show you before and after pictures or utilize our Home Design Studio to see what your house would look like with white or tan windows before you sign a contract with anyone.

12.  Will Energy Swing do any interior finishing with wood trim and sills?
Yes!  Energy Swing Windows' installers are quality craftsmen who can make your dream look become a reality.  Interior trims are available as well as new sills.  Quality is important to us so we make sure to provide you with the best possible craftsmanship from the make of your window to the detailed trim inside and outside your home.
